Latino Studies

Latino/a Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study. At Ohio State University, Latino/a Studies is housed in the Department of Comparative Studies. Topics covered in Latino/a Studies courses include Latino/a culture and literature, Latino/a history and politics, Latino/a labor struggles, and the impact of globalization on Latino/a communities.

The mission of OIE is to assist in the development and the accomplishment of the University's goals in international education and exchange.

In order to achieve these goals, OIE:
-provides programs, services and written materials for international students and scholars to assist them in achieving their educational and personal goals
-serves as the focal point on campus to organize, coordinate, and integrate diversified areas of responsibility on the campus and in the community to respond to the needs of international students, scholars, and their families
-develops and coordinates programs for students interested in study abroad
-advises students and manages all aspects of their participation in overseas programs
-promotes cross-cultural understanding and an appreciation for diversity at the University.

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at The Ohio State University has a primary mission of serving, facilitating and stimulating the instructional, research and intellectual interests of the faculty and students in matters dealing with Latin America. In addition, the CLAS should carry out meaningful outreach programs to the Ohio community in order to enhance the public's knowledge and understanding of important matters of business, politics, economics, culture and the arts.
