Hispanic Oversight Committee (HOC)
Description:
Undergraduate recruitment: Making calls to encourage students to attend OSU and to let them know about the Latin@ community here; Graduate recruitment:working closely with a committee formed by the Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) and the Graduate School designed to reach under-represented populations; HOC supports the establishment of a Center for Latino/a Studies; Evaluates student services that support Hispanic students; works closely with OMA and UCHO to support student activities.

Organization of Hispanic Faculty and Staff (OHFS)
Purpose:
To serve as a voice for Hispanic/Latin@ professionals in the university community; To support the establishment of effective institutional programs of recruitment and retention of Hispanic/Latin@ faculty, staff, and students; To assist in fulfilling the needs of the students through mentoring relationships; To discuss solutions for problems that OHFS members may encounter within the OSU community; To provide valuable network-building opportunities for all members through social activities; To develop and promote positive portrayals of the Hispanic/Latin@ culture.

University-Wide Council of Hispanic Organizations (UCHO)
Purpose: To foster communications among various social, professional, and educational Latino/ Hispanic organizations and to advocate for the continuing developmental, social, and cultural programming for Latino/ Hispanic students, faculty, and staff at The Ohio State University.

The Argentine Tango Student Organization at the Ohio State University (TangoOSU)
Purpose: To promote instruction and regular practice of Argentine Tango at OSU, and serve the Tango needs of central Ohio. We welcome all dancers, beginner and advanced, from OSU and the entire community.
Lessons: Wednesdays and Saturdays: 7pm beginners, 8pm Intermediate.

Puerto Rican Student Association (PRSA)
Purpose: The purpose of the Puerto Rican Student Association shall be to implement Puerto Rican influence into the broader OSU community both on and off campus by working with and conducting events in the cultural, social, political, and educational spectrum.

Asociación de Estudiantes Mexicanos (AEM)

Purpose: HGO was created for you, Hispanic and Latin American graduate and professional students, as a means of promoting personal development, and to provide information, support and assistance in the academic development of Hispanic graduate students at OSU. At the same time, HGO is committed to promote and facilitate social and cultural awareness and activities according to the needs of its members by providing coordinating services, programs and activities for students and the University at large.

Latino Law Student Association (LLSA)
Purpose: The Hispanic Law Students Association is an organization dedicated to influencing the conditions under which members are being pereared for their professional roles in society and to promoting awareness of Hispanic interests in the legal field. In addition, our purpose includes advancing the interests and welfare of the members as well as the law school community as a whole.

Hispanic Organization for Texas Students (HOTS)
Purpose: The Hispanic Organization for Texas Students (HOTS) is a student organization that will provide future and current OSU students with moral and academic support throughout their college years. It will also provide a connection with other fellow Ohio State students that are from Texas. Note: you do not need to be from Texas to be part of this organization.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE, also known as OHSEA: Org. of Hispanic Students in Engineering and Architecture)
Purpose: The Organization of Hispanic students in Engineering and Architecture (OHSEA) is The Ohio State University ''s student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). Since 1990 OHSEA has been helping Ohio State University students achieve excellence by offering a wide variety of programs and services. We are brought together by heritage, social responsibility and desire to improve the equality of all people through the use of science and technology. We value the excellence in education, professional pursuits, and leadership. We obtain excellence through integrity, empowerment, achievement, diversity and continuous improvement.

Alpha Psi Lambda
Purpose: Alpha Psi Lambda is proud to be the first co-ed Latino oriented fraternity in the Nation and a member of NALFO, the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations. Alpha Psi Lambda was founded here at the Ohio State University.

Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity
Purpose: La Familia of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Inc., a brotherhood composed of undergraduate, graduate, and professional men internationally, established on December 26, 1931, is the Oldest Existing Latino Fraternal Organization. We dedicate ourselves toward the empowerment of our Latino community by providing intensive social and cultural programs and activities geared toward the appreciation, promotion and preservation of the Latin American Culture. Our organization prides itself in the ability to motivate people, develop leaders, and create new ways to unite our community.

FIAT Club (Fuerza e Integridad A Todos)
Purpose:
FIAT Club is a new student organization on campus for Latino and non-Latino men with the intention of bringing university male leaders and entrepreneurs together in working with their local communities through city-wide initiatives and multiple university programs. It follows the Service and Pan-American ideals of Phi Iota Alpha. FIAT Club is a step towards eventual brotherhood, and this group allows students to work with each other first before taking steps toward being a brother.

Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc.
Purpose: Lambda Theta Phi is the First and Official Greek Letter Latino
Fraternity to be established in the United States, founded on December 1, 1975 at Kean College in Union, New Jersey . We are one of the largest Latino Fraternities in the nation, established in over 90 institutions
from coast to coast. We were also the first Latino Greek Letter Fraternity to be accepted into the National Interfraternal Conference (NIC) in 1992. Lambda Theta Phi is a social/service fraternity that emphasizes Latino Unity and the awareness of the Latino culture. We seek to empower members to become leaders in the future, while making a positive impact in our respective communities. Many of our members have become prominent leaders in society, from doctors and lawyers to politicians and businessmen, among others.
Although Lambda Theta Phi is Latino by tradition, membership is open to all college males and the Brotherhood includes men representing nations of the world. Lambda Theta Phi has been officially approved by the Multicultural Greek Council to expand into The Ohio State University and we are now in the process of recruitment for the Fall of 2007.

Pan-Hispanic Latino Organization (PHLO)
The Pan-Hispanic Latino Organization provides service and helps the community while promoting a basis for diversity and involvement in campus-wide activities and developing the leadership skills of its members. More importantly it provides incoming freshmen and currently enrolled Ohio State students with moral and academic support. PHLO will serve as a means of communication and support amongst the Hispanic community within The Ohio State University and the city of Columbus. Latin American Native American Medical Association (LANAMA)
The Latin American Native American Medical Association (LANAMA) serves to provide a welcoming environment and support network for Latino/a and Native American medical students at The Ohio State University. We are committed to strengthening recruitment and retention of Latino/a and Native American students at the College of Medicine. Oi Brasil! Portuguese Club
The Oi Brasil! OSU Portuguese Club is a student organization that aims to promote awareness of Brazilian and Luso-cultures through language, music and dance. An active member of UCHO and tied closely to the Department
of Spanish and Portuguese, Oi Brasil! also functions as a forum for the diverse academic fields that work with Brazil and the Luso-world.
Oi Brasil! meets weekly for "bate-papo" or informal conversation tables. It is
an opportunity to practice your Portuguese, "matar as saudades" and get to know others with similar interests. We are currently coordinating a schedule for a series of dance workshops (forro, pagode, samba, axe).

College Assistant Migrant Program Alumni Association (CAMPAA)
The purpose of CAMP Alumni Association at OSU is to support incoming CAMP participants with their transition from high school to college; network with other CAMP students in other colleges and universities to form alliances, pen pal opportunities and share ideas; and promote awareness and inform students of the current issues faced by migrant farm workers.

Folclor Hispano/Canto Latino

Folclor Hispano Performers

Purpose: Folclor Hispano is a dance group at Ohio State University, which strives to learn and present traditional folkloric dances of Spanish-speaking countries. Through dance and music members have an opportunity to experience and share with the community the vibrant folkloric expressions of these countries. Folclor Hispano's members are from the university and Columbus community and are of different ages, professions, and backgrounds sharing a common interest on Hispanic culture. Folclor Hispano has expanded to include dances from Spain, Colombia, the Dominican Rebuplic and Argentina in addition to dances from Mexico. The group plans to continue adding to its repertoire. Performances this year included several Ohio State functions, a Cinco de Mayo celebration and a performance at Crew Stadium celebrating contributions made by Hispanics in the Columbus area.

Club Tropical Performers

Purpose:
Club Tropical is a social and cultural organization whose purpose is to:
- Promote Latin culture through dancing of tropical rhythms of Latin America;
