For more than 100 years, the Columbus Music Hall has stood amongst the oldest buildings in the city. It was originally built as a firefighter station, known as “Engine House No. 12”. Its red brick construction and arched frame windows give this beautiful structure a unique personality enhanced by an elegantly classic wood finish and hanging chandeliers. The space becomes more interesting when you explore around the garden area, an outdoor extension that is heated in cold weather and can be very enjoyable during the warm summer nights. This setting houses one of Columbus’ hidden treasures: The Columbus Music Hall – a place where live music, dancing, mingling, and enjoying a friendly environment is all about.

Wondering what kind of music will be playing? Well, Columbus Music Hall celebrates Jazz, Blues, and Salsa by dedicating specific nights of the week to any of these styles. Usually Wednesday is Salsa night and Yumbambé is in charge of the music. Yumbambé is a 9-piece Latin dance band that plays a wide variety of Latin and Afro-Cuban music, including Salsa, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Mambo and much more. This widely popular band includes vocals, four percussionists, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, and bass. It has enormous appeal for fans of all ages who love to listen and dance to exciting Latin music and they have made Columbus Music Hall their home base.

Are you a Salsa dancing expert? Or maybe you have two left feet…it doesn’t really matter, it’s all about having fun. It is quite common to find people who go from beginners to experts sharing the dance floor at Columbus Music Hall. People who may want to learn have no trouble finding a friendly person willing to teach a move or two. Regulars who come here very frequently and like to share their passion for dancing and Latin culture, say that it is a very healthy environment and a great place to make friends. People from all ages share the same enthusiasm on the dance floor and that enthusiasm can be very contagious.

Would you like to try something new and exiting? Come and explore The Columbus Music Hall, be sure to visit their website first, so you know who is playing before making plans. Or give them a call to hear the weekly calendar. It is also worth mentioning that this place is very pocket friendly, it only costs $5 to enter and parking is free.
