Gabriel García Márquez
Gabriel García Márquez is a Colombian novelist, journalist, publisher, political activist and one of the best known Latin American writers. He was born in the northern Colombian town of Aracataca on March 6, 1928.
In 1967, García Márquez published his most famous work, Cien Años de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude). He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982 for this book, which by the end of the 20th century had sold more than 10 million copies in 30 different languages. |
