or other OSU students interested in the Hispanic/Latin@
community, UCHO is sure to meet your needs. With its 10
member organizations, strong support from faculty, and
the future participation of new students like you, UCHO

Alpha Psi Lambda Inc. Alpha Chapter
Alpha Psi Lambda is the nations first co-ed
Latin@ interest fraternity founded right here at Ohio
State. We view ourselves as a familia that values academics,
community service, brotherhood/sisterhood, and the Latin@
community. We participate in different types of events
that range from academic-oriented to social to those focused
on the Latin@ culture. Our members are some of the brightest,
most motivated, and leadership-focused Latin@s on campus.

Club Tropical
Club Tropical is the salsa-dancing club at OSU. We
set out to promote Latin@ culture and connect the university
with the outside community through dance. We offer salsa
lessons twice a week at the Ohio Union: one beginner,
and one intermediate/advanced. This past year, we held
our first annual dancing event, and it was extremely successful.
We were able to include a salsa band, DJ, and a performance
by our own, energetic, performing branch of Club Tropical.

the past years, Folclor Hispano has represented the Hispanic/Latin@
culture at various events. We welcome members from the
university and Columbus community of any age, profession

Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA)
Our organization provides students with opportunities
to do internships by arranging meetings with corporate
companies, which visit us during our meetings. We are
also the source of all your entertainment needs by providing
exciting social events, such as the OSU Soccer Classic,
Dodgeball Tournament, and our delicious Thanksgiving Fiesta.
We also connect with multiple entertainment venues around
Columbus to promote our events. You will be incredibly
involved in our meetings, and because we are a professional
business organization, your ideas will always be heeded

The Hispanic Graduate Organization (HGO)
The Hispanic Graduate Organization (HGO) is the oldest
Hispanic organization on campus. We have been here for
over a decade! HGO was created for you, the Hispanic and
Latin American graduate student, as a means of promoting
personal development and to provide information, support
and assistance in your academic development at OSU.
At the same time, HGO is committed to promoting and facilitating
social and cultural awareness and activities according
to the needs of its members by providing services and
programs for students and the university at large. Our
main goal is to provide social activities and gatherings
that give you the opportunity to interact with other Hispanic
and Latin American students. Our activities range from
movie nights to quarterly field trips. We are also committed
to providing students with outreach opportunities both
within the university community and beyond.

The Hispanic Law Student Association (HLSA)
The Hispanic Law Students Association (HLSA) is an
organization within the OSU Moritz College of Law. Our
membership consists of law students dedicated to raising
awareness of Latin@ issues within the legal profession
and the community. We collaborate with several other diversity
organizations at Ohio State. We are proud volunteers with
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio and last year
we were awarded the 2005 Pickens Award, which Big Brothers
Big Sisters gives to the group partner who goes above
and beyond in their efforts to serve.

The Hispanic Organization for Texas Students (HOTS)
HOTS was created to provide future and current Ohio
State students with moral and academic support throughout
their college years. Our main goals are to serve as a
means of connecting students of similar origin and to
alleviate the homesickness that most students experience.
We work closely with The Office of Minority Affairs (OMA)
and the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) in their
recruiting efforts year round. Through the OMA and CAMP
offices, we host students visiting from Texas high schools,
participate in campus tours, and conduct student panels.
The organization does significant amounts of volunteering
and fundraising. We are currently involved with the Mentor-Mentee
program through OMA and tutor Hispanic students at a local
high school. We also like to come together and have fun
by going bowling and playing lotería. Hope to see
you soon.

Asociación de Estudiantes Mexicanos (AEM)
Six years ago, the Asociación de Estudiantes
Mexicanos (AEM) was created as an answer to the needs
of the Mexican students at Ohio State, who deserved to
be recognized and supported. Even though we are part of
the Latin@ community on campus, we have different perspectives
and points of view, and as Mexicans we also contribute
to the diversity of the international community.
