Serve as full-time tutor!
A local non-profit service organization seeks your leadership skills to motivate others. If you are between the ages of 17-24 and are trying to decide what direction you want your life to go, come make a difference in the life of a young child. You will be united with a diverse group of young adults that desire to make a difference and change the world at the same time. City Year Columbus seeks individuals from all backgrounds to serve as full-time tutors to students in the Columbus Public School District. For more information, visit the City Year website at www.cityyear.org or contact David Ciccone at (614) 586-1434 or dciccone01@cityyear.org.
Become a mentor at the VIVA program
VIVA is a program of the Educational Council that provides social and academic support to Spanish-speaking school students and their families on the southeast side of Columbus. The resources offered include bilingual tutorials, a bilingual after-school program, and semiannual family and community events.
If you are interested in mentoring a VIVA student, please write to Courtney Kelly at kelly.366@osu.edu. By dedicating just an hour a week to a young person you can have a profound impact on him/her and how he/she experiences school in the United States.

Conversation Partners Program
Conversation Partners Program
Sponsored by American Language Program
The American Language Program (English as a Second Language) is recruiting Conversation Partners for our international students.
As a conversation partner, you can offer our international students the chance to converse in a relaxed and non-academic atmosphere with a native English speaker. We ask that conversation partners commit to spending at least one hour per week (for summer quarter only) with his/her international partner. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to CPP@mail.esl.ohio-state.edu (Lisa Swaim) for more information.
